My Cowboy and I have some pretty interesting conversations. Just the other day he brought to my attention that in the winter time you do not need to wear sunscreen. We both had a good laugh about it. Of course you need to wear sunscreen in the winter months, but I can see his logic... It's just not something you think of in the colder months. If you can't feel the warmth from the sun you probably think you don't need to put anything on to protect you. We associate warm weather with sun protection. But even in these cold months we are still outside - a lot. Just because you are not sporting your sleeveless tops, doesn't mean you're face isn't still get those daily rays. My daily routine is to ALWAYS put on sunscreen. EVERY MORNING. It is the number one anti-aging product you can have in your arsenal to prevent pre-mature aging. I love being outside, but with that comes the consequences of a lot of sun exposure (like fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or age spots). Even when it's cold outside I still put some sort of hat on and sunglasses for additional protection.
My favorite sunscreen is Protect. It is an SPF 30 and is a "physical" sunscreen that is non-nano, coated, zinc-oxide based sunscreen. It is sheer, long-lasting, lightly hydrating and great for all skin types. Zinc Oxide has the best broad spectrum coverage of all currently available sunscreens. The other cool part about this product is that it is Oncology friendly and I use it on my little girl without any concern of putting harmful chemicals on her skin.
Although it is winter and it's cold outside, just remember the sun is still shining and is sure not hibernating these winter months. So bundle up and enjoy this winter - it always makes me look forward to the warmer months more.
